A Night Out with ABH + Pre-Health Networking Event

Sophie Wallerstedt, MPP MPH, Public Affairs Manager at Second Harvest Heartland shared about the current policy landscape for food access.

Our Night out with ABH events are quickly becoming some of our favorite times to spend with supporters and advocates, and our most recent event was no different! Last month,  public health professionals, healthcare providers and students gathered to hear from our panel of experts about the intersection of food access and advocacy. We enjoyed informative and relevant presentations about US food systems and the impact they have on community health, as well as an update on the state of hunger in Minnesota, opportunities for advocacy, and a preview of what could be on the horizon in 2025. Food access continues to be a priority initiative for ABH as we gear up for the next legislative session!

At the annual Pre-Health Networking Event at the University of Minnesota on October 1, ABH Board President Dr. Etienne Djevi, Executive Director Becky Timm, and four former ABH Public Health Advocacy Fellows engaged with pre-health undergraduate students. The room was filled with energy as students eagerly connected with seasoned health professionals, learning about their educational journeys and career paths. One student shared afterward how inspired they felt by the stories and insights, motivating them to continue pursuing their studies with renewed enthusiasm.
