Initiating a mass immunization effort aimed at rubella was one of its initial projects in the 1970s; today the foundation’s priorities are to provide funding to organizations serving the health needs of our underserved residents and engaging in activities to improve public health. More Information.

The Board of Directors is comprised of elected volunteers and has the principal responsibility of ensuring the foundation's mission and vision are fulfilled. This function is carried out by providing governance, leadership, and vision; ensuring the vitality and growth of the organization; representing the organization in public settings; and accepting the ultimate legal authority for the organization.
ABH | The Foundation looks for new Board members who are energetic, strategically-minded leaders to help the organization thrive.
The Board Candidate Application period is open year-round. Online Application
Director requirements and duties
Minnesota physicians, residents, and medical students are encouraged to apply.
Complete a full three-year term
Total time commitment per quarter is about 8 hours
Attend quarterly online Board meetings: Second Wednesday in February, June, September, and November from 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Attend the online New Member Orientation
Make ABH | The Foundation one of your top three annual donation priority organizations
Social events and service opportunities are available throughout the year
Application process
The online application is open year-round. ABH staff will contact applicants to schedule a call or Zoom to share information about serving on our Board and answer your questions.
You may want to draft your responses in a word document and cut/paste into this form. Questions include:
1. Why are you interested in serving on the ABH | The Foundation Board?
2. How are you an advocate for better health?
3. What specific talents, skills, expertise, and experience do you believe you can bring to the Board?
4. Have you had experience on other foundation boards? If so, where?
5. Are there any specific issues, causes or aspects of community that you feel particularly passionate about?
6. Are you comfortable/willing to participate in fundraising?
7. Are you philanthropic? Do you make charitable donations to support causes you care about?
8. Is there anything else you would like to share with us about yourself?
