About the Charles Bolles Bolles-Rogers Award
Established in 1951 by the late Charles Bolles Bolles-Rogers, the Charles Bolles Bolles-Rogers Award (originally the St. Barnabas Bowl) honors physicians who have made outstanding contributions to medical research, achievement, or leadership. Mr. Bolles-Rogers, who served as President of the St. Barnabas Hospital Board of Trustees, ensured that this award would be funded in perpetuity.
The award itself is a handcrafted bowl created by local artist Tanya Garvis. Tanya uses color glass, dusted and fired in multiple rounds to create a unique design. Each piece is carefully shaped, and even the “mistakes” are considered beautiful, reflecting the individuality and artistry of each award.
Each year, Twin Cities hospitals and clinics are invited to nominate a physician whose contributions have significantly impacted their field. The recipient is chosen by the ABH | The Foundation selection committee based on their remarkable professional achievements over the years.
